5 Day Devotional

Day 1: Beginning with Prayer

Devotional

Prayer is not just a ritual - it's the foundation of how we connect with both God and others. When we pray for specific people by name, especially those who don't yet know Jesus, something powerful happens. Our hearts begin to align with God's heart for them. We start to see them as He sees them - precious, valuable, and worthy of love. This intentional prayer creates a spiritual foundation for authentic relationships.

Bible Verse

'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and those who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' - Matthew 11:28

Reflection Question

Who are five people in your life who don't know Jesus that you can commit to praying for by name this week?

Quote

You are part of a context that no one else is part of. Pastor Mike will never meet most of the people that you know, right? Only you, only you are part of your context. And God has placed you in that context for a purpose.

Prayer

Lord, open my eyes to see the people You've placed in my life. Give me Your heart for them and help me to be faithful in lifting them up in prayer. Show me how to be Your light in their lives. Amen.

Day 2: The Power of Listening

Devotional

In our fast-paced world, truly listening has become a rare gift. When we stop talking and start listening, we communicate value and respect to others. Jesus himself was a master listener, using questions to engage deeply with people. By following His example, we create space for authentic connections and meaningful conversations.

Bible Verse

'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' - Matthew 11:28

Reflection Question

How might your relationships change if you focused more on listening and asking questions rather than waiting for your turn to speak?

Quote

Jesus in the gospels, he asked 307 questions. When somebody asked him a question, he responded with a question 307 times, and he answered someone's question directly three times. Jesus was a listener.

Prayer

Father, give me ears to truly hear others. Help me to be slow to speak and quick to listen. Let me reflect Your love through the gift of attentive listening. Amen.

Day 3: Breaking Bread Together

Devotional

Sharing a meal is one of the most fundamental ways humans connect. Whether it's a coffee break, lunch, or dinner, each meal presents an opportunity to deepen relationships. These moments around the table can transform casual acquaintances into meaningful friendships, creating natural opportunities to share life and faith.

Bible Verse

'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' - Matthew 11:28

Reflection Question

What is one step you can take this week to intentionally share a meal with someone who needs to experience God's love?

Quote

There are few things that can accelerate a relationship with another person with, like, a shared meal. And we're kind of out of that practice as a society, as a culture, aren't we?

Prayer

Lord, help me use the simple act of sharing meals to build bridges and show Your love to others. Guide me in creating welcoming spaces where relationships can grow. Amen.

Day 4: Serving with Purpose

Devotional

Service isn't just about physical tasks - it's about meeting people where they are with the love of Jesus. Whether offering practical help, emotional support, or spiritual encouragement, serving others opens doors to demonstrate God's love in tangible ways. Every act of service, no matter how small, can be a powerful testimony.

Bible Verse

'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' - Matthew 11:28

Reflection Question

What unique gifts or abilities has God given you that you could use to serve others and show them His love?

Quote

Oftentimes, service, we think of it as something physical, but it can be emotional and it can be spiritual as well.

Prayer

Jesus, show me opportunities to serve others in ways that reflect Your heart. Help me to be Your hands and feet in my community. Amen.

Day 5: Sharing Your Story

Devotional

Your story matters. The way God has worked in your life is a powerful testimony that can help others see His reality and love. You don't need theological training or perfect words - you just need to be authentic about your journey with Jesus. Your experiences, both struggles and victories, can help others find their way to Him.

Bible Verse

'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' - Matthew 11:28

Reflection Question

What part of your story with Jesus might encourage someone else who is searching for hope?

Quote

We share our story with Jesus so that others can have their own story with Him. We talk about. There's an old adage that there's five gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and the Christian. And most people will never read the first four.

Prayer

God, give me courage to share my story with others. Help me to be authentic and clear in sharing how You've changed my life. Use my testimony to draw others to You. Amen.
